Officials advise creating a safety zone around homes by clearing flammable materials. Homeowners are encouraged to remove pine needles and dry leaves that accumulate around their properties. Additionally, woodpiles should be placed at least 30 feet away from the home. It is also important to remove any items that can burn from under decks.
