Alta Vista Wins $50K STEM Classroom Upgrade
Alta Vista Elementary School in Sarasota County has been awarded a $50,000 STEM Classroom Makeover Grant from Florida Power & Light Company (FPL). The grant will be used to upgrade a classroom with tools including robotics kits, virtual reality, and 3D printers to enhance science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) learning opportunities.
This grant is part of FPL’s initiative in celebration of its 100th anniversary. As part of this expanded program, FPL and the NextEra Energy Foundation will support 20 schools across Florida with a total of $1 million in funding. Alta Vista Elementary is the only school in Sarasota County selected for the program.
The funding will enable the creation of a cutting-edge STEM learning space intended to support hands-on learning activities and spark students’ curiosity and innovation.
